Discussing the history of Title IX and its effect on sports, with a particular focus on Fencing.

Title IX has been a successful civil rights act, increasing the opportunities of women in sports. However, it was originally meant to deal with all discrimination in educational institutions that receive federal funding, such as discrimination in hiring and employment.

There has been a significant effect on sports however, and it has created more opportunities and funding for women's sports. Although there has been an increase in opportunities, there is still far fewer women coaches involved compared to the number of programs.
